I feel contractually obliged to give a travel update even though I don't feel like we have done much that would count as travelling in last few weeks.

I don't think house sitting will be the future of our Australian tour, it has served us well the last few years, its allowed us to save lots of money for our trip and given us a window into other peoples lives. We have stayed in some amazing homes, looked after some fantastic animals, real characters who we will remember for a long time.

But we have a decked out van that needs using! No complaints house sitting has been good to us and I'm sure we will do it again in the future, with the mid point of winter behind us the days are getting lighter already, we have one week left here at Trickle Hill farm and then one short house sit booked at Lakes Entrance with some HelpX work either side of that. That takes up to the end of September and winter should be well behind us and we can head into New South Wales with the sun on our backs.

Our membership for Happy House Sitters ran out this week so I've cancelled the email updates for new sits, so we don't get the temptation to apply for more!

We need to get this travelling on the boil, I still feel like we are on a slow jog or even the warm up stage, while we have seen some great places and had a fantastic time through Victoria we feel like the real business of exploring is still to come. Its been good to catch up on some reading and having the facilities to do some nice cooking for a change but we still find ourselves looking at other travel blogs, reading other peoples adventures and looking over the horizon at what may come, it feels a bit like day-dreaming at work all over again!

Some light stats for people comparing trips;
Total km's on the road, approx. 2000
Average spend per day $25
Days on the Road 87

Its also tax time in Australia and as we finished work before the tax year we should get a nice windfall to put towards our travels. I think soon we will need a new set of tyres ($800) and  at the end of the year pay the road tax (another $800) so the taxman will help with that which is nice of them!

UPDATE: We have brought the new tyres so our daily spend has lifted to $35 per-day over 90 days.

Enjoy our photos of Trickle Hill farm, our next destination will be towards Wilsons Promontory, we have a HelpX lined up at Fish Creek and then we finally more eastwards towards Lakes Entrance for our final house-sit.

After that hopefully we will start to feel more like travellers!
