The last few days in France were glorious we could clearly see England across the channel and thought we may at least get some nice weather on our trip home. This though is England and probably the main reason we want to travel further afield, no sooner had we got home the clouds moved in, maybe it was a omen for our gloomy mood.
Sharon would like to apologise at this point for not adding to the blog as promised, the weight of appearing in print for the first time finally got to her as she mulled over the events and highlights over the last six months, maybe she will write a complete tour review? I'm not sure but you have to take my word for it that she is here in person and while she may be shy she would liven up any party with a few G&T's
Apart from the bad weather the trip home went smoothly, as we said it did feel like a cop-out returning home but with the van to return it had to be done and it was great to catch up with friends and family. We were glad we had kept our home visit to a few weeks it was just enough to see everyone without lingering. Mum organised a great farewell party, we had a brill day, the weather held out and we got to say all our tearful goodbyes.
We have even managed to sell the van on ebay, (well we have a deposit, fingers crossed he pays Dad the balance!) We got just what we were after for the old girl and its practically paid for the trip so far. While its very sad thinking we will never see her again she gave us some fantastic memories and will always hold a special place in our hearts, bit soppy I know but she was our home for so long its going to feel like a break up over the next few weeks! At least we didn't have to see her drive off with her new owner, we just shut the door and quietly walked away.
But as they say one door closes and another opens, new adventures beckoned. When we left last time it didn't really feel like goodbye now we know we don't have to come back for a while there is a different feel to what we are doing, we are now staring into the unknown and just like leaving the UK for the first time we are excited and scared in equal measures!
