Today we went for a long, long, long walk around Phnom Phen, picking up a few of the city sights and bartering a little at the local markets trying to find a bunch of high quality knocked off watches. Cambodia is full of knocked off stuff, DVD box sets the job lot, and all of it seems pretty good quality if you dig deep and if you barter hard you can get it at very cheap prices too - just don't barter too hard mind! After spending the bulk of the day in the city we were keen to get back to the happy guesthouse before daily monsoon rains arrived in the afternoon. We succeeded in doing this and as we relaxed in the main communal area of our digs having a mug of tea and a game of pool, the heavens opened up enabling the owners kids to crank up the stereo and boogie outside in the down pour. One of the kids did have some pretty cool moves up his sleeve as he splashed around having some proper fun.
That evening we decided to try out the Indian restaurant around the corner. It was very basic (as everything else was around here) with a single downstairs room with a kitchen located out the back and the sleeping quarters upstairs on a mezzanine level. The downstairs room led straight out onto the road. The food however was pretty good and cheap as chips, or as cheap as Nan bread and poppa-Dom's!
