The nightmare of selling Baris, our beloved campervan for a sum greater than or equal to that which we had purchased her for was finally over with a surprising outcome.
Due to the sluggishness that our camper had reverted back to, the high mileage evident only on the odometer, and the large steep rollercoaster suburb that we lived in, we had already excepted the fact that any test drive would show the flaws in our sale and we would have to bite the bullet and throw money at the problem to resolve it. Yet, even if we managed to make Baris spritely, we were certain that we would lose money on the sale by being talked down in price way below the asking and our need to make a sale forcing us to accept. Waynes earlier attempts at a sale had failed the previous weekend after he nervously semi secured a deal only to lose interest after his test drive.
With Wayne now in Perth, Tilly would have the misfortune of selling the van alone. With three people lined up for viewings on my first Saturday away, she was very nervous for all the reasons highlighted already. Neither of us had any confidence in the sale, so how the hell do you make a convincing sale? Well Tilly did and managed to sell good old Baris for $1250 more than we had purchased her for! This was a great result and mean't that we had made the right choice in spending a bit more on the camper than the backpacker norm in order to have something decent to live in and get us back in one piece plus to have something desirable to sell back to the Australian public with money rather than the average backpacker with none. It also mena't that we were right to not rent a camper which would have cost us about $5000 which would have been dead money!

Still two months on from the sold date and I still can't believe she has gone - I never got the chance to say goodbye!
