Where I stayed
Any relation to the Waters in UK? Who knows?
...Intrigued by this fact, we head for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) Library, within the Alamo, to find out more about Thomas, he was from England but there is little information on him. The library is not busy at all. We feel that we are the first and only customer in a long while, considering the Alamo gets about 3 million visitors per year. Out of curiosity, we ask the librarian if we are the first customer of the day. His answer: 'We are busy, you are the fourth visitor to the library for this morning' Wow! Jeez... just imagine, if we wait until later we might have to wait in line.
About 8 or 9 blocks away is the Mercado Square... what is the big deal about this place. We just remember Mi Tierra Restaurant & Bakery is an institution on that market square, with Tex-Mex food and baked goods. Many travel guides rave about the food here. Really!! It is an immigrant success story. This place is packed. Is it because it is an institution or is it Presidents' Day and everything else is closed? The food does not do anything for Kim. But we are all here for the experiences... just like the River Walk.
