We pulled into Silver Lake Campground near June Lake just south of Lee Vining in easter Sierra.  Spitting distance to Yosemite.  Without reservations it is always an adventure as to what we can find that is available.  The campsite system is inconstant and the camp host here, normally quite helpful was just the opposite until it came time to collect the funds for the campsite which was $11 per night with our senior access pass.  We finally, after unhooking and double parking the RV in a spot, found an open spot.  Actually we found two open spots.  Most were reserved well in advance or already occupied.

No hookups here but we had already filled the water tank in Bishop, and dumped waste so were set.  Didn't put out solar so ran the generator in middle of second day for an hour and, otherwise, just conserved electricity.  We were here only for two days before heading over Donner Pass in advance of the pending big "atmospheric river of water" storm predicted for northern California.  We want to get settled into the Mediation retreat camp, our norcal destination, before the late afternoon arrival of rain.  It's about 7-8 hours travel time including fuel ups, grocery restocking at Carson City Trader Joes and driving.  In a car it is 5 hours.  So we are up early to prepare for the day.

While here we did manage to enjoy the aspens which are on fire right now everywhere in the eastern sierra.  Didn't get in as much photo time as I had hoped but we did drive up to Toulomne meadows yesterday in eastern Yosemite.

Fall is truly here and the weather patterns are shifting.  Our patterns are beginning to shift a little too. Now off to our Nevada City destination which is also our medical home to take care of a few things for a couple of weeks.

More to come....
