on one of the rainy days, we went to the farnsworth museum and saw lots of andrew wyeths paintings
we spent a day on monhegan island. it was the longest we were away from millow, but she did well, we had the ac to go on if it got hot.. the island was wonderful. no cars. and bikes aren't allowed on walking trails. we took a trail that started at one side of the island and ended at the other. it was only a little more than a mile one way and what a view there was when we got to the end of the trail!! in the village we sat outside and had seafood and while we ate had more of a wonderful view. on the way to the island and on the way back we saw porpoises, what a treat that was! and an island of seals as well. it was a wonderful day that we will remember without having to look at the blog!! i'd like to spend more time on that island. there are b and b's and some inn's. but it is costly.
another day was driving to boothbay bay
took a hike on the breakwater trail, if you want to call it a trail! it was over a mile long and went to the lighthouse and was just huge blocks of stone that make up the breakwater to keep the sea swells out of the bay. another lighthouse was seen when we went to owl's head bay state park. but i had to wait in the car, no dogs allowed. we were here a week and felt like we just had a little taste of this part of maine. we could spend a whole summer in just this area alone. our next stop isn't far , it will be just south of portland, so we'll do some "urban" stuff too. see ya in scarborourgh! love, the fab 4 girls gone rogue!
forgot to mention that we had 2 days that it rained for over 24 hours while we were here. now really, is that necessary?
