"Preparing" for Travel

Since arriving in Costa Rica, well... even before arriving it seems like it has been a whirlwind of activity.  Probably because is has been.  Between a hectic work schedule for Sarah, work and school for me, and taking care of Anikah it was non stop activity last week.  Which meant we left packing to our traditional time - the night before our morning flight.  Lets just say the the morning did not exactly greet us when we had to drag ourselves out of bed to get to the airport.  We were pretty whipped from two flights with Anikah, who managed to have one her naps during the hour layover in Charlotte.  I know I'm not going to get any sympathy considering we are now on the Costa Rican coast at a place which has a beautiful view of the ocean from the hammocks on our porch.

Arrival in Aljeula

At the airport, we were greeted by Libby's wildly waving hand 1. Metal Church in Grecia

.  After some brief and excited greetings, we headed by bus to Alajuela and to our Hostel which is home to possibly the oldest pit bull on the planet.  He looks more like the dog out of the "Corpse Bride" than a live dog.  Most of the two days we spent in Alajuela consisted of resting and catching up with Libby.  We took one short day trip to Grecia, and that broke Ani in to sleeping on the bus.  So far she has been doing great, and the little tent that we are using as a crib is working out fairly well.  Hopefully she will get more used to it so she is only up once in the night instead of three times.

Quepos

The bus ride to Quepos was pretty brutal because it was long and hot and Ani had a hard time sleeping due to the heat.  But once we arrived it seemed to be worth the effort:  beautiful ocean views, and a place with AC, kitchen, couch, and hammocks (a favorite of Ani's).   As I said, the tent Ani is in is working out OK for HER.  Unfortunately for Sarah, we had the tent in a bottom bunk so when Sarah got up to get Ani, she cracked her head on the top bunk pretty hard.  Hopefully this is Sarah's "injury for the trip" since she always seems to have one.  We are here for a few days before we head on to Uvita.  I'm sure we'll manage to catch up on our sleep here...
