So it all started again with... another trip to Sydney. Yep, it was first point of call on my last trip too. The main reason for my calling this time was to see Nicky who I traveled through thailand with, and it was aslo pretty damn handy staying with her for free in a penthouse appartment in the middle of the city! Thanks nicky~! Needless to say I was running out of sights to see in Sydney, but I did manage to find my way to Sydney fish market and gots me a huge seafood feast which consisted of about 20 pawns, 10 baby octopus, a heap of squid, and a salmon fillet - A LOT of food... and all BBQ'd to perfectoin! YUM!

Anyone who knows me well will also know that I cant pass an opportunity to visit any markets, and with paddys market being right there I simply couldnt resist spending some time there. I was pretty tough with myself however, and I would only let myself buy something if it was cheap and something that I really wanted / needed. End result = I got nothing. Having said that thought, it is still a great place to pick up a pair of sunnies, some fake bags, get a massage, or buy gadget remote controlled mini helicopters... only $30 too! SOOOOO tempting... but alas, not for the traveler.

On my last full day in skids I spent it.. well... out of Sydney. I ventured up the coast to Palm beach which for anyone who doesnt know, is where they film the Austalian TV series Home and Away. After a 2 hr bus trip up (which only cost me $5.80!) I discovered Its a pretty little place with a lovely golden sand beach with not much happening. As much as I hoped I didnt manage to catch any filming action, but I did manage to catch a glimpse of the character Sally (dont know her real name) which gave me a small feeling of success!

On my "last night" in sydney it was a Friday night, and we managed to get things a bit roudy. Me, Nicky and James (Nickys boyfriend) who coincidently is also from London, and wasa resident DJ at Fabric (for those who dont know Fabric is one of the biggest clubs of London, and (arguably by certain people) rated one of the best clubs in the world) ended up getting up to all sorts of trouble. It all started with a bottle or 4 of wine - as most good nights do - and then off to a club in kings cross called melt where they played 'funk'. James started talking to the owner of the club, managed to score himself a weekly DJ set, and then after the bar closed we drank with the owner to god knows what time before I thought about how screwed I was going to be for my flight the next day. After some dirty Burger King (or Hungry Jacks as they call it here) and getting back to the appartment, before I knew it I was waking up to my alarm going off lying on the carpet exactly in the same position as when I crashed out. I missioned it around, managed to get my airpot shuttle, and got to the airport about 10 mins after my plane left for alice aprings, hmmm..... shit! So I missed my flight... and due to their only being one flight per day this ment one more night in Sydney.Lucky for me the qantas lady transfered my seat to the next available flight for $30 which she wasnt supposed to do... lucky for me!!

After frantically rining around and changing my accommodation and tour for a day later everything ended up working out just fine. And because I was catching the bus to Cairns I transfered my ticket to an east coast pass and cauch a flight instead. All in all it ended up being a $120 mistake. Lesson to be learnt: Airport shuttles take AGES to get to the airport! Real lesson to be learnt... I thought really check to see how long I need and allow for extra time. :P

My final "last night" in sydney comprised of me staying in a backpackers and going out to a bar called the gaff, where they had a "power hour" - that meaning that from 10pm to 11pm there was free wine and beer. And I mean FREE! As much as you wanted... provided you could fight through the backpacker crowd to get one. It was horrible wine and beer though. I got a couple free out of it, but wasnt planning on hanging around for too long as I didnt want to repeat my missed flight shenanigans. The mood in the place was starting to get a little.. well... sleazy to say the least, and this included a couple of naked english guys. What is it with english, beer, and wanting to get naked?? Go figure...

Anyway, the next morning I was unbelievably early for my flight. But hey... at leat I made it this time!
