Well today was a momentous day - we made it to the Atlantic coast and dipped our feet in the Atlantic Ocean.  And so we have driven across the continent and back and witnessed the sunset on both sides.   For us, today was also special as we managed to visit some of the old places we had seen with our girls a few years ago on a very special trip to New England.
Our journey today took us through Vermont, into New Hampshire and up through Maine.   The Green Mountains were beautiful, every bit as captivating as any other place on our journey.   Chrissy marvelled at the autumnal colours as we travelled through the woods, passed secluded lakes and by vistas offering great views of the area; all the time in search of the elusive Moose.   The villages that dotted the way were charming and lived up to the name of New England - such wonderful architecture, that makes you just want to take it all home.   We will take it all home, in our memories.
We choose a special place to hit the coastline; Kennebunk, where we had stayed with the girls and we arrived just about lunchtime, the sun was high, the sky deep blue and the waves dashed onto the shore to bring an indescribable beauty to the place.  Monty raced around in gay abandon and so did Chrissy, Philip remained reserved as usual.   Having enjoyed the beach for a while, we made our way to Kennebunkport for a spot of lunch - Lobster Rolls and Clam Cakes, before we drove along the coast to the Nonantum Hotel in which we had stayed in with the girls, to grab a few photos.
We spent the afternoon heading north on the Interstate to our chosen overnight spot of Bar Harbor.  The campsite was set on the remote Mount Desert Island and we experienced yet another spectacular sunset at the coast.
