We have not mentioned up to now that Chrissy had been feeling unwell for a day or two and overnight things got more acute. She was suffering quite badly with a water infection that was causing pain in the kidneys. Anyway, we decided that it would be best if she saw a doctor and we agreed that we should try to do that in Canada. In the end we set off as planned and found a hospital after about 2 hours or so of driving
Victoria is a truly great city - quite the best we have visited in Canada. We really recommend a visit. The atmosphere is really uplifting and for a couple of hours the three of us explored the sights and scenes.
At 1800 we paraded for the customs checks. Chrissy was convinced we would be arrested and locked away for smuggling, so every orange, apple, potato and beef burger was jettisoned as she went through the Customs Guidance Notes to ensure we had no banned goods aboard the RV. Monty's passport was prepared and duly presented to the Custom's Officer, much to his amusement. We passed through without hitch, board and set off on time and with a slightly lighter RV!. We were treated to a glorious sunset as we crossed the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Sadly, we did not see any Orca's but Chrissy kept lookout for the entire voyage! We arrived at the campsite, in the dark and tired after a long and emotional day. Tomorrow we start our journey across the USA.
