More exploring of Budapest today. Part of our exploration today included one of the natural heated pools which are dotted all over Budapest. We tried to go to the central market, but it was closed. We covered about the same number of kilometres in walking as we had done yesterday, although as we didn't climb any reasonable hills our legs felt much less jelly like. For dinner, we went out to a vegetarian restaurant just up the road, a speciality Hommus place. Very nice! There were two reasons for our decision to go out for dinner:
1) We couldn't locate any fresh vegetables in the local supermarket (only a limp carrot), which explains the attempt to visit the central market; and2) One of our "house mates", a fellow from Germany, has a penchant for eating fish fried in Olive oil for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hostel generally reeks of burnt fish for about an hour afterwards, which does a good job of turning Shellie's stomach inside out.
We have decided to not book ahead for our trip to Slovenia; seeing as we are travelling in shoulder seasons we have decided to "risk it" and see if we can score some accommodation when we get there. Shellie has done some internet research and it appears we will be able to score access to a dedicated small apartment just for us for around the same cost (if not less) than staying in a hostel.
It's not that we're unsociable, rather the experience with our burnt-fish-loving German friend has made us want to be able to stay somewhere and not "share" for a couple of days :)
