One of the reasons we decided to stay an extra day was to look around downtown Fruita and then go to the Festival Farmer's Market that is held every Thursday evening during the summer. The Market was the brainchild of one of the downtown redevelopment people and has become quite popular, both as a market for local farm goods and crafts, but also as a social gathering. There is music on several corners and vendors set up all along both sides of Main Street. Some of the stores were closed, but most were open to attract the additional foot traffic that the event brought downtown. Unfortunately, this was one HOT afternoon with the temperatures in the high 90s or low 100s. The crowd was rather thin, but still lively, appreciatively watching the street performers and local bands perform. We walked up and down the length of Main Street, buying some produce, a bottle of wine, and a sage and basil plant for decoration and cooking in the RV. After our pre-dinner passeggiata, we went to dinner at Il Bistro, a good Italian restaurant right on Main Street. We had a great dinner and returned to the RV to pack up for our move on to Moab.
