On the road again. We left early on the morning of July 5th after spending the evening of July 4th with the neighbors. We all gathered in the club room and shared a barbecue and got to know one another better. We have new neighbors, Bob & Patti, who just moved in after selling their home in Lakewood Ranch. Bob is a pilot, retired from United. He loaned me the pilot's "Skyclopedia" that gives the pilots their spiel for what they're flying over, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, etc. I told him I'd try to report on some of the locations from ground level.

We had originally planned on going to the Ozarks on the way west. I talked with the campground we had thought of going to and a good portion of their park was flooded so we decided to simply head west. Our goal for the 5th is to get as far as Defuniak Springs on the Florida panhandle. It's not a very big place, but it has a nice RV park on a lake. We got there about 4PM and got set up in the rain. The owner came out to direct us in and wasn't too happy but helped us get situated. We did the usual dinner and clean up and then decided to take the dogs for a walk since the rain had stopped. Good thing we did because the skies opened almost as soon as we'd closed the door. The storm seemed to be centered right on top of us, with thunder, lightning, and pouring rain. Sam is a nervous traveler and between the 4th of July fireworks, a day in the RV, and the thunder, his nerves were shot. He jumped into bed with us and just snuggled in close. Luna was right there beside him. Big brave guard dogs!

Next morning dawned clear and clean and we were on our way to New Orleans
