Shark cage diving. It's quite simple really. You require one sturdy cage, a wet suit and one or two willing sharks.

Normally, you need all three for it to work. Shark cage diving without sharks isn't much fun, as we found out today. For the first time in over a month, the sharks didn't turn up. And of course it would be the day we got out on the ocean. Incidentally, we were due to go on Friday, when five sharks kindly swum around the boat to entertain the tourists. Clearly sharks need a day off too and they chose Sunday to rest. Bastards.

There were fish heads in the water, a make believe seal attached to the boat and a whole host of people willing the sharks in but they just weren't interested.

So we spent the day making conversation with the crew. We discussed the offspring that Bryan Habana and Minki Van Der Vesthuizen would produce (google her)and decided that quite simply, the child would be Mr/Miss South Africa in the near future. As the day progressed and conversation slowed, we tried to think of the most South African place name. This won: Villiersbokkrugersdorpbaai. Quite catchy, I think you'll agree.

It's been a weekend of boating as yesterday we made our way to Robben Island. It's a windy, depressing place and amazingly people still live there. An iconic island undoubtedly, but the tour left you feeling detached from it all. It could be done so much better with a little more thought.

A slight panic took over Tim yesterday when he realised the bus ticket he booked was from Jo'Burg to CT - not the other way round. That's like booking a ticket from London to Rome, in the wrong direction. A smart move, that luckily hasn't cost him as the nice people at Bazbus are clearly used to complete buffoons using their services.

Tomorrow we're off to Knysna on The Garden Route which was flooded last week. Simon Kelner's South African counterpart is having a field day. Hopefully, it will have cleared up when we arrive but if not maybe shark cage diving won't be out after all?
