Cusco is yet another delightful colonial city, which we have enjoyed immensely especially the local market where various animal heads were for sale!!  I had to walk away when frogs were being disected live in front of me...

The purpose of being here was to visit Machu Picchu.  A four hour train journey took us to Agua Calientes at which point we were at the base of the mountain.  The day before we visited the site we spent a day luxuriating in some hot volcanic springs, with a Pisco Sour in hand (local cocktail).  Very touristy, very tacky but very nice...

Yesterday we visited the site itself.  At this point we would normally launch into superlatives - but there is really nothing you can put in writing to describe this place.  We have visited the Grand Canyon and walked the Great Wall of China - but nothing compares to Machu Picchu - it is the most amazing thing we have ever seen.  We have added a few pics to try and put this across but they cannot do it justice - you have to come here and surround yourself with the majesty of it all.
