Drama of
the day, takes place at a balcony near you…or me, actually itīs my
The very same balcony where I sit and watch the watergirls and drink my
Amarula, what I havenīt mentioned was, itīs veeery dusty, you put your foot
down and it will leave a real footprint in the dust so I decided to do
something about it…I asked for a broom and a bucket of water… well apparently
as the Muzungu of the house..itīs not my job!? Now outside the house thereīs
this guy, hanging around, as they do…so Moses talks to him and strikes a deal…I
kept saying I can do it..it will take me 5 min! But no…to get the hole picture
here,  there’re a couple of things,
balcony is located on the second floor and the guy was not allowed in the house
(!?) so first 15 minutes they try to locate a ladder (me? I took the stairs and
I ‘am now sitting on my dusty balcony watching, not much else I could do!) so
they found the “ladder” two tree trunks and pieces of wood nailed and stringed
together AND broken in the middle, so off they went to find another one,(Another
15min) as they did a shorter one (same construction) raise the long one and
after a lot of afford, put the short one for support I guess this is another
“seemed like a good idea at the time” situations, at this time I felt obliged
to make a statement so, “itīs not going to hold!”  a short conversation in Swahili and I got
four thumbs up! Ooookey.. so the guy puts one foot on the ladder reaches for
the bucket….holds it….short conversation… Moses looks up at me and says…”itīs
not going to work…heīs to drunk!? So it all took about  45 minutes.. so I go down, grabs the bucket
and the broom take the stairs sweeps of the floor flush it off with water and
done..5 minutes! And as a ”bonus” I found the source of his state of mind… they
are selling the local Gin, called “Conyagi” in small plastic thingies, you know
the kind that kids used to by frozen Coca-Cola flavored ice.. well the Conyagi
flavored alcohol, about 38% proof comes in these plastic thingies in the size
of a decent schnapps or fairly good shoot, depending upon where you from, and
they are everywhere, so telling from the track of Conyagi plastic bags he left
behind he had his fair share of Conyagi shoots….And if heīs lost heīll probably
be able to track his way back, hmm come to think about it that might not be
such a good idea, because I guess he won’t end up at home….
