Funny what odd places get used or things companies do to be seen, I posted a photos today, from the centre of Arusha, the proud clock tower,
itīs placed in the very centre of the city As many other clock towers like this all over Tanzania (and probably other countries)
The funny thing about it…or not, is that itīs sponsored by Coca-Cola, lined up
along two other roundabouts… Monument of independence,
the one proudly presenting Life-sized animals of Tanzania (elephant, rhino etc)
and… the Coca-Cola clock tower!?
Today I went shopping… for fruits aaah fresh fruit, mango, papaya,
pineapple and passion fruit
So this guy is holding four passionfriuts in his hand asking about USD 5 for the fruits!
He gives in to "half" for USD 2 … well it was pretty much the same as in season back home but hey they were big, I got to taste one, and I wanted it so I said ooookidoki…he takes my money and gives Me "half"…. A kilo … got to loves this country!
Another funny way of doing things here is filling up your car or mobile (itīs all prepaid phones) All cars run on empty, so do their phones so if you're going somewhere you need to know how fare it is and then you buy as much petrol as you need, (we are basically filling petrol everyday) and for the phonesitīs pretty much the same, you charge it with a small amount, more or less every day and it doesnīt matter if you got the cash, this is how it’s done, talked to Moses about it, explained how much easier life would be if you “filled it up” instead, he thought about it for a sec, replied with a smile that I was correct, that he never thought about it like that before and of we went to fill up the car... that can hold about 160 liters in two tanks (now he got the money I know that) and he filles her up… almost, eeh kind of, well at least he pumps her up with…
15 liters , I guess itīs still twice as much as he use to,
and yes.. later today he needed to charge his phone… again, Hakuna Matata.
A thought about the clock tower, a nice clock tower like that and no one seems to use it…
Know what I mean?...be on time.... at least once.... no?
Oh almost forgot... well diggers, still digging, no water (sand is getting darker (moist) but rocky......
