We had our first Spanish train experience traveling from Barcelona to Valencia - it was great! Spanish trains are top notch.
Valencia was quite toasty weather wise. We got the tram out to the beach and marina area where the America's Cup was held the year before. This is where we had the mojitos that make your eyes water. We went to a nice hotel bar on the water to have a cocktail but they were so strong (no measures used) and not really drinkable.
We walked around the city for a bit and went past the cathedral, stuck our head in the door and then decided not to go in. We hadn't read the guidebook before we got there and so we missed our opportunity to the see the 'holy grail' that Indiana Jones had left in the cathedral after a few too many mojitos beachside. Oh well.
