This was to be the next hidden gem of the prairies.  One of the greatest dinosaur hauls in the history of archeology, or whatever other ology deals with dino bones.

Another epic valley in the middle of nothing but flat lands full of grazing cows.  Looking down on this alien landscape as it stretches towards the horizon reminded me of the panoramic shots from Pitch Black.  "Where the hell can I get eyes like that?"

Unfortunately April decided the 13th was too early to have spring or to allow hiking.  The weather changed, our park visit was cut short and all hell broke loose on the drive to Saskatoon.

Not realizing the shit was about to hit the fan, we took some back roads out of the park.  Direction north.  It turns out that winter likes to mess with these.  Slushy potholed roads, although not fun,  weren't too bad, but then the winds kicked in.  Snow drifts started accumulating, standing water at the sides of the road started to move in for the kill.  All wheel drive is nice, but when you lack high clearance and are rocking summer tires, the drive turns nasty.

Once we crossed into Saskatchewan, it got worse for a bit.  Apparently the weather respects provincial boundaries.  Alberta wasn't due to have a whiteout, Saskatchewan was.  Finally we emerged onto a semi decent highway that took us straight west towards Saskatoon.
