After a month of rustic living, Bangkok is a good place to reacquaint oneself with some of the finer things in life. It's fashionable for people to criticise this city, but I don't really understand the usual reasons for doing so. Frequently heard are 'Its dirty'. No its not, its relatively clean. Also 'Its too hectic'. Again this is bollocks - its busy but the streets and roads are by no means overcrowded; certainly nowhere near the level of say, London or Hong Kong. Then there's 'Its too full on'. What? Compared with where? The Kent countryside, maybe. The rest of Asia, no chance.
Anyway, we spent a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing few days of massages, eating well, going to the cinema, and stocking up on things impossible to get in Laos.
