The beauty of this corner of the world is such that it really is one of those places that has to be seen to be believed. Set upon the Mekong river, many of the islands of Si Phan Don are only above water during the dry season. This fact is most starkly visible by trees that are underwater for many months having a windswept look too them because of the constant current of the water. We spent one day kayaking around them including one monster of a rapid. We would have liked to have stayed longer but King Football beckoned in the shape of Liverpool Vs Barcelona. Unfortunately there is a lack of electricity here so back to Pakse it is.
