And so, farewell to Thailand for the time being. This town is right on the border with Laos and we decided to spend the night here so as to get over the border first thing and get on our way.
This has been my first visit to Thailand and I'm looking forward to coming back in one months time when we're going down to the south. The people are generally polite and friendly though you do get the impression they're quite highly strung.
After Vietnam and Cambodia, travel here has been incredibly easy. Buses are frequent and comfortable and people are usually at hand to help you out. Indeed, levels of service here have been refreshingly efficient and I've not yet been given any reason to lose my cool.
The only drawback has been the sheer volume of tourists, though surely there will be places in the south where we can avoid them.
