Hi Friends,
So we left Southbroom last Friday and headed north driving on the beach road towards Durban looking for our next home. We ended up settling at a place called Winkle Spruit in a beachside resort in a self contained unit for less than A$60 a night. The day we got there the surf was huge and the wind was howling northerly so we didn't know if we were at a surf spot of any quality or not.
We woke early on Saturday and went for a look at the beach and found just 100 metres down the beach was a cracking little point break peeling for about 50 metres. Talk about luck, turns out this spot doesn't break very well usually but because all the sand had been blasted from this spot as well by the big storm it actually was breaking better than ever. Wooohooo. It was one of the more crowded spots I have surfed over here but the local boys were all pretty friendly and I got a few sets after a while
We have loved our time in South Africa and would like to return someday, maybe in 2010 when they host the Soccer World Cup. Our safari was a wonderful experience and the coast trip was filled with friendly people, great waves, beautiful weather and spectacular landscapes.
We have now returned our little mate Barney the wonder Fiat after doing almost 3000 kms in him without missing a beat. We have been lucky that we have avoided the crime that plagues this country but over all the people of South Africa have been friendly, helpful, and happy to hear that we were enjoying and liked their country.
Now it is time for us to leave and head north to our next destination of the Emirates for the next 4 days and some adventures with our friends Shane and Kate...
Shane, pick me up

Anothre point shot to finish South Africa off
. The standard of surfing was high and the locals were pushing deep behind the takeoff rock and surfing right past it. I have surfed here for the past three days putting in plenty of surf time before a few weeks of no waves in the desert countries ahead. Mandy has been very patient but thankfully the weather has been perfect, about 28 degrees and no wind at all so she has been happy lazing on the beach. So far this travel game has been tough to take but we'll be right so don't worry about us.We have loved our time in South Africa and would like to return someday, maybe in 2010 when they host the Soccer World Cup.
