This morning we went down to the Green Point craft markets. We bought some nice crafts to send home for our house. Then after lunch we picked up Daniel (safari friend) and drove the scenic drive up to Table Mountain. Now I have been scanning the cable car for the last 2 days and had been getting myself very worked up about going up it. The steepness of it looked pretty scary. We bought our return tickets which cost just over $20 each and entered the cable car cabin. To make things worse when we got in the car we noticed that the floor spins around so everyone can see the view on the way up. I think I would have been okay if this didn't happen. I can't say I enjoyed the trip up, I was to busy grabbing Petes shirt and only peeking out the windows occasionally. At one part of the trip up I grabbed the drivers armed and in a very firm and scared voice asked, "How much longer!!!" luckily it was only another minute and we were up the top
The views from the top were spectacular, the three of us were so blown away by the beauty in front of us. We went on different walks and sat many times just to enjoy the serenity of it, we met some people who walked up and also climbed up over the big rocks, I can't say that is something I would want to do. We stayed up there for a couple of hours and then got on the cable car to come back down. Coming back down wasn't so bad because I think I was used to being up so high, it also seemed a lot faster getting back down. Doing this was such a highlight of the last 2 or so weeks we have been away.
After that we did some more driving looking at views and then went back to Dan's apartment. The three of us went out to dinner and Pete and I asked for hamburgers. We were served an inch thick piece of beef with sauce and avocado on a thick bread roll, no salad was included. We think South Africans just love their meat and don't really accompany it with much salad. We went back to the backpackers and it was another noisy night but not as bad as the night before. We did get awoken to someone trying to open our door at around 2am, I think they may have been drunk and lost.
