Friday 20th April - Johannesburg to Cape Town Another early wakeup call and off to the airport at 7am. Our flight didn't leave til 11 o'clock so we had a couple of hours wait at the airport. We arrived in Cape Town around 1pm. When we went to get our luggage there was some confusion as to which carrousel our luggage was on, all the passengers on our plane including us, had to keep moving between 3 different carrousels to find our bags plus also Pete's surfboard. We arrived at the Big Blue Backpackers where we will be staying for 4 nights. At first this place seemed pretty cool, but that was because it was in the middle of the day and no-one was there. The Backpackers was an old double story Federation style building with wooden floor boards and our room was like a cave, only 2 very small windows. We went for a walk down to the V&A Waterfront which is a massive shopping complex on a wharf which is similar to Darling Harbour in Sydney. Didn't do too much else today, came back to the backpackers and ordered pizzas for dinner. We noticed our room was in a very noisy area of the hostel, we had stairs right out side our door and also another set behind the wall of our bed. By around 10pm it was getting very loud and it felt like our roof was going to fall as the wooden floor boards made so much noise from people walking in the dorm rooms above. This noise didn't stop all night with people coming in and out and coming home all hours of the morning from the nightclubs. All we could do was laugh as it was already paid for and we had to put up with it.
