Tour booked through Happy Tours, Bui Vien St. Very nice there and good guides, don't go for the free T-shirt (it's crap) but for the free breakfast or hour on the internet.
This first day was a bit like we were expecting and dreading. 20 people on a coach, then a big boat, then a smaller boat, then a bigger boat, then a smaller boat etc etc visiting all the 'handicrafts' like coconut candy making (a table of women wrapping sweets), honey tea (yeuch), tastes of fruit, traditional singing...although we had the unexpected opportunity to hold a python. Cool. It was the largest python farm in the delta where they are bred for handbags etc...except we did not get to see that..only the one snake!
Anyway, short ride on sampan (local rowing boat) through a smaller tributrary was cool even though it only lasted 5 minutes. Hotel was ok and close to town. Some nice places to eat. Met local guy who said he's been in special forces and began to talk about Margaret Thatcher?! Next time, I'd just get the bus staight down to Can Tho and organise tour from there using Can Tho tourist. More thumbnails ...
