After a long and relaxing lunch we headed out with Juan to show us around the city where he was born and brought up. Lunch is not rushed as the temperature here is incredibly hot and only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun.

We travelled around the city in a mini-bus, stopping where appropriate.

Mendoza has a far more relaxed feel than Buenos Aires with lots of open spaces, plazas and parks. Apparently we are in an earthquake zone and the open spaces were purposely incorporated into the layout of the city so people have somewhere to go to get away from falling buildings. Also there are very few high-rise buildings for the same reason. This all contributes to Mendoza being quite a pleasant city.
