Saturday 15 November
Off Cape Vancouver S 35° 17.2' E 118° 13.7'
It being Saturday we had emergency drills, this time simulating a retreat to the bows (from fire?) and instruction on the donning of immersion suits there. They are like baggy neoprene drysuits with built-in gloves that make the zipping-up tricky. The way the Chief Officer ran it reminded me of our Dive Leader rescue practicals.
Saw no dolphins, or anything else of note, during my walk nor during an hour or so at the bows later. We have crossed the G. A. B. and turned the corner into the Indian Ocean, passing Cape Vancouver and Eclipse Island around lunchtime.
Chaperoned Nadja viewing a video in the newly-carpeted lounge, which was a little embarrassing (the chaperoning, not the video). Later decided on a quiet Saturday evening in front of the computer rather than a night out on the town, following the example of Norman Stanley Fletcher.
