Second day of 4WD exploration of Fraser, now we aimed to see 5 lakes, Lake McKenzie, Basin lake, Lake Birrabeen, Lake Benarroon and Lake Boomanjin.
We drove through some real jungle, high trees, strange jungle noises surrounded us all the time, road were much rougher than the day before. It was obvious that this was not were all the tourists would go. But no worries, we stopped at the first lake, Lake McKenzie and enjoyed ourself, amazing view, crystal clear water, we swam there fore a while until all the other toursists arrived there. We decided to leave for Basin lake, lake with turtles we had heard. Basin lake needed a 2km walk along a path in the woods, with sandals on our feet it did not feel safe so we skipped this lake.

We drove for Lake Birrabeen, a 15km drive. The road become worse all the time and about 2km before the Lake we got bogded in the sand. Rental car no shovel, we digged with our bare hands for 2 hour or so in order to get our vehicle 50m backwards. We were very lucky since other Australian tourists came to help us. After that experience we went back for a swim in Lake McKenzie. The day was really hot and after all that bumping in the jeep it was nice to sit down at the pool.
