This was to become the first day for 4WD adventure on Fraser Island. Drivers permit and a 20min crash course in 4WD driving is necessary prior entrering the rough road of Fraser. We drove crose the island, a distance around 15km (took us 1,5h). Then we headed north along the eastern beach for 30km to the Maheno wreck. Beach driving is easy 80km/h and just remember to keep left.
On our way back, we stopped for a 2h swim at the beatiful Eli creek, an amazingly little creek with crystal clear and cold (20C) water. We would have stayed longer, but due to the high tide we were forced to head back, away from the beach. As we were driving we could see the tide coming in covering the tracks were we had arrived. We made a small mistake, missed our turn and drove south via Eurong resort and then back to our hotel. Rest of the day we just relaxed at the pools. It had been a really fantastic adventure. We decided to open our christmas gifts after the dinner as the Finnish way. We didnīt want to wait until the christmas day morning.
