Todays plan is to head back to the states of course it was after 12 by the time we left and we got a little sidetracked as usual on our way Decided to try and find Granville Island market again on our own (without the hop on hop off bus) as they had lovely fruit and a yummy cake shop - was a bit of a mission to find and we ended up travelling the street that had all the druggies and homeless people, it is so awful and really scary, horrible to think so many people can end up in that situation have never seen anything like it before literally crowds of these people hanging about on the street, this time there was an ambulance as well as the police cars in the middle of the road nobody taking much notice obviously just a usual day
Did eventually find the market, parked in a parking building that threatened towing if you didn't pay - we tried to pay but the machine refused to accept our money so we were very pleased when we returned and our car was still waiting for us.
With our usual good planning and impeccable timing we managed to leave Vancouver at 5pm instead of arriving in a city at this time, uhuh leaving is no easier than arriving in rush hour - held up for ages and ages and finally reached the border early evening. The border officer man we struck was pretty cool and even managed a sense of humour, again pretty easy to get in to the country, where were we from, NZ, where had we been...uhuh duh...Canada..had we flown into the States then driven to Canada...yes,,,,when were we leaving and were we leaving any possessions in the states,.......leaving in a week and a half and no... and here we are back in USA.
Stopped for the night somewhere near Marysville or Tulipsomething - decided on a quick Arbys dinner and noticed a Casino over the road so wandered over there after dinner. Stephen started winning on the first machine he touched, very unusual for him, I was losing so moved on and found another couple of machines managed to recoup my losses and was up a little when I got 'that' feeling about a machine I was wandering past...sat down hit it a few times and got the free games....which retriggered repeatedly .....ended up with a nice little pay out not huge but enough to make me happy, tho the nasty tax people took their bit....winning in NZ is much better ...no tax...and as a jackpot winner I got a picnic blanket gift....which thrilled Stephen no end haha! He was up $100 so he felt like a winner as well. The lady took forever to sort out the paperwork and pay me so by the time we left it was late and the freeway traffic has woken me up early this morning so I am gonna be tired nasty by this afternoon!
