Finally, after over 10 excruciatingly early flights, we hit the jackpot with this one. We took off from Athens at about 2.00pm and were in Prague at just after 5.00pm local time. Unfortunately it was a bit rainy and dark already, so our spirits were really not high. Still, same drill, we used the airport bus to take us to the start of one of the metro lines, that after less than 10' took us right next to our hotel.

I must say, we enjoyed the night walk in the old town and to our hotel. Those narrow dark and humid streets that ended up in a well lit and known Old Town Square added a touch of mystery most charming. By the way, the hotel was quite satisfactory, great location and very helpful staff not to mention the super exchange rate they provided... The room was sufficiently clean, big and warm, with sat. TV and hot water running non stop in the comfortable bathroom, the bed sheets were fresh and spotless which was a major plus but the towels needed an immediate replacement, stained and warn out, couldn't even keep the detergent's fragrance....

Anyways, we had a shower at the hotel and immediately took of f to grab a bite and adjust ourselves to our new surroundings. Unfortunately, we didn't do quite well in chosing our first dish. We simply walked into the first restaurant we spotted on the Square were the magnificent church/landmark of Our Lady of Tyn is. To me, the place reminded a french bistro, with big chandeliers and waiters in suits... Anxious to taste the local dishes, we went for goulash soup and duck and those weird doumplings they serve everything with.. Goulash was nice but we later found out that they don't all make it the same way so... it could be dicey getting the great one instead of something totally unagreeable to your stomach. Which is exactly what the duck was to us. Too dark, too stiff and left us with a taste in our mouths as if we had drunk two buckets of lake water....

Despite our rather disappointing dinner, the rest of the night turned out great!! We visited the Ungelt Jazz & Blues Club, just a few steps before our hotel. A very cozy place with two different spaces, one being the bar where there were also tables and the other with the music stage where the groups performed and for which you pay a tiny entrance fee. which also has a sort of balcony with more tables so you can watch the performance from above. The group they featured that night was into blues and not jazz, but they were great anyways even though their show lasted for about an hour or so. Only two draw backs, one, you had to leave your table and go to the other side of the club to get a drink and come back to your seat.... and two, you had to leave your table and go to this hallway really if you wanted to have a smoke while standing and then return again to your table.... I couldn't be bothered with that so I have to give Prague a grand thank you for helping me out in my efforts to quit smoking!

We thought we should call it a day as it was past 1.00am and seriously needed to catch some Zzzzzz. And so we did.....
