Luggage and the Food Court
Entry 1 of 9 | show all | print this entry |
Well we're here in his parents house. It looks like a huge doll-house! It is very compact like the beach house in Puerto Rico but bigger. It's so cute! Well our baggage didn't make it to us...hopefully it will arrive today with all its contents. Thank goodness I had a dress in my purse to change into. Today we are going to take it easy, of course. Eating and eating and eating. Right now I am drinking fresh squeezed orange juice Lupita made (his mom) and I could drink it all day long. She is making hot chocolate, eggs and bread for breakfast. There will probably be cheese involved somewhere, they dip it in their hot chocolate so it half-way melts before it's devoured. Now i'm drooling. We don't have many plans set in stone, yet. But I think so far next saturday we are going to go to the little town where that huge rope-slide thing is. I forget what it's called. Anyways you just hold on really tight (and are strapped in) and you slide down this cord down a mountain-side. I don{t know how to explain it but I can't wait to do it. We will stay in a hotel in that town and then head down to Bogota to see his family in the country-houses. That will be a long long long scenic drive from what I gather. Until then I think we are going to try and squeeze in some shopping for everyone back home. I'll send pictures later, at least I will try.
Welp, we got our luggage. Everything was in it, nothing missing. A few squished gifts but all is well. We went to a little shopping center today. It was like a Walmart but spread out between hundreds of vendors with stalls inside what looks like it is a renovated parking garage. You can find anything there for very very cheap. We bought some things there and then went to eat at the food court in the nicer mall closer to their house. I have never seen such awesome food in a mall food court! There was no fast food, but it came fast. There was even a little place called "Chino Bambino" which was a mixture of Chinese food and Italian food. Very weird, but so cool! I had a steak dinner, Oscar had this baked fish thingamabob covered in cheese, Yecid (Oscar's Dad) ate a panini, and Lupita ate a huge dish of Lasagna. We were all eating off each other's plates. I think I ate all the coconut rice, though. Yummm! I will probably talk about food most in my e-mails, which will probably suprise no-one. haha Then we watched home videos we brought from Jacksonville! I think the Colorado ski trip was the most fun to see. Let's all go skiing together! Tomorrow we are going to go shopping again in a regular mall. I hope to find some skirts there. Oscar is so happy! Actually his family is so happy, of course. They are always smiling and laughing....well mostly at me, but that's ok. I'm having fun. And yes, yes, yes, if you must know, I am indeed practicing my Spanish. Its a humbling experience and I haven't even met the most eccentric of the family yet. Claudia warned me they would be clucking around me like chickens. yea... I don't know how people are so skinny here, they eat soooo much! But I guess it's that special time of year and all. I've probably already gained five pounds, but my tastebuds are happy.
