This is an entry more for the sake of getting another map pin (I like the map pins).

Guayaquil was not that great. Its an ok city (or even quite a niceish city) but the people are not nearly as friendly as they are elsewhere in Ecuador. Its hot and sticky and the food is expensive. Thats about it.

We got out of there pretty quickly the next morning to head to Baños (entry coming soon). The drive to Baños was pretty spectacular, with views of the nighest volcano in Ecuador, and it was also nice to be back to a place where all the traditionally dressed people smile and chat as you go past (unlike the grumpy guayaquileños).

Baños is a town set under the active volcano of Tungurahua which you can hear rumbling every now and again. The town slogan is "Baños: a safe  destination". Sure.

More tomorrow or the day after, pretty exhausted right now after a long bike ride and then an even longer bus ride (to Riobamba where I am writing this, just in case you were wondering if we survived active volcabo town!)
