Entry 27 of 54 | show all | print this entry

Ahhh revenge is sweet, me and the old guy wake up at 7am and make a huge noise as we get up, having showers and organising our stuff.  The Americans get pissed but we don't care they should have been more respectful when they got back.

Breakfast is 5 euro or $8Aus so I buypass and have a protein shake and one of my yoghurts.  It is now raining in Marseille, I speak to the guy at the counter and ask where I can do my laundry he says downstairs.  Whoo hoo I don't have to venture out.  I do my washing, go on the computer and chat to people in the Youth Hostel, I then message some hosts for further on in the trip.

When it is time for lunch I decide to wander out and go to the coast and see some of Marseille, and book my ticket to Aix en Provence tommorrow.  When I get to the Metro station there are heaps of security and some scarey looking dogs, I try to get a ticket but the lady is very unhelpful and even my trying French does not work.  I then go and get some lunch, have a walk around and then decide to go to the train station to  book my ticket to Aix. The best thing about Marseille is the train station, there is a glorious view and the fact that you are leaving is surely a good thing.

No luck there everyone on the counters are rude and just say no and walk away.  I hate Marseille more and more.  At least I have a host tonight so hopefully that will be better.  I go to the train station to see if someone there can help.  As the next day is May day holiday there is a huge queue. It takes me an hour to book my ticket which is okay, it is a bus ticket as there are no trains.

My host in Aix, Jorda has two other couchsurfers staying with him and they are going hiking so he says if I can arrive by 11am that would be good or they will wait.  I can arrive at 11.15am so not too bad.  My host is unavailable until 7pm so I decide that to play on my computer is the answer.  Then a guy comes in and decides to film me and another australian girl talking and using our computers, I think they are filming something for the website.  I joke with her they are probably saying An Italian girl and a Swedish girl, I have been mistaken for Italian most of this trip.

She also agrees Marseille sucks so I am not alone and she is in a hurry to leave aswell. The Youth Hostel is great letting me hang out and keep my stuff here until 7pm.  At 6pm I leave with all my luggage, yes again I realise it is far too heavy, luckily it is all down hill.

I get the tram to Patrcia's house, first going in the wrong direction then correcting it.  Patricia is lovely she has an Italian boy staying with her also, he is funny.  She advises me there will be some apparatives at her house with some couchsurfing friends and then we can go to Aix En Provence if we like as there is a couchsurfing party there aswell.

Its a nice group of people and we talk, drink wine and have food, I decide not to go to Aix with some of them as I will go there tommorrow. Its 1am and Patricia is going to go to a bar for a drink but I can stay if I like, I decide to stay.

Wish you were here - Penny
