Learned more about the atomic bomb - known as the Manhattan project.

Check out the movie Fat Man and Little Boy (Paul Newman, Dwight Schultz & John Cusack) before hand. It's the story about the development of the first atomic bomb by Robert Oppenheimer at Los Alamo during WW II.

Fat Man (Nagasaki) & Little Boy (Hiroshima) are the names given to the 2 bombs dropped on Japan in 1945.

The most interesting part was a film about how they are still doing with the atomic weapons. There is no more testing allowed so the scientists have to figure out how to test them to make sure they will still be effective (if needed)... So they have to develop testings on portion, parts of the bomb and simulate that whole thing still work... sound scary to me..

The test site is at Trinity, it is closed to the public. Open for tour only twice a year.
The bomb was only tested once then dropped on Hiroshima a week later.

Lunch at a local place called El Parasol - cheap and good.

Visited the Black Hole. It's a junk yard with government surplus and strange items: rockets, gas masks, very old PC, printers.... It was fun to look around. - it was written in the 'Off the Beaten Path' book.

Stop at the Camel Rock Casino on the way back, did ok. Drive to Canyon Road ...wow ...all high end art galleries .. One after another.have dinner at Tomasita's Mexican Restaurant by the train yard.

Do try sopaipillas - light, puffy fry bread. poke or tear them open and spread with honey or honey butter. Some restaurant serves it instead of bread basket. - very good especially when they are freshly made..must be a New Mexico thing.
