Durango CO to Santa Fe NM
Weather : Sunny
Temp: ºF
Accomodation: Las Palomas Hotel
Got up at 7:00 am went to hotel lobby to have breakfast ..not much to offer but since we did not have diner last night I was hungry. Check out and drove into town. It's very quaint western town. Check out some t-shirt stores and ended up at a pub like place for breakfast . We tried the SW eggs Benny with green chille.. not as spicy as I thought. Very good.
Afterwards we just wandering up and down the historic main street. Lots of real estate offices. Not cheap.. A town house in town is 400k...picked up some pastries at the french bakery. Fill up gas, got ice and on the road again
The drive from Durango to Santa Fe is very scenic, much like BC with hills, mountains and trees. Once in a while there is some rock formation.
Stopped at Chama NM after 2 hours from Durango. The town is small, nothing much to look at but the train yard parking lot is full. Something must be going on to attrack people. Found out that there is coal power train that people come here to ride. So we waited at the platform to watch the train came in at 4:00 pm.
Got to Santa Fe around 6:30pm. The hotel is very cute, we have our own unit with outside patio. Hotel is a few blocks from the historic Santa Fe Plaza. The building is made of adobe bricks, with lots of SW art work. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The front desk clerk told us about home made waffle for breakfast that we must try.
Went to the Plaza had dinner at the Ore House Restaurant - Tuna with spicy mango salsa & pecan crusted halibut. Walk back to hotel, had coffee and french pastries.
