Day 8 - Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day
First real day of my vacation.. Took the subway to the Olympic park. Not too crowded.. went in the Biodôme (Old Velodrome during the 76 Olympics). 4 ecosystems of the Americas:
Tropical Forest- very lush & humid with weird looking animals
Laurentian Forest - birds flying over a 'lake' with beavers, lynx porcupines.
St. Lawrence Marine ecosystem- many different fishes in a giant tank..
Arctic and Antarctic - my favorite - penguins ! watch them diving into the water, leap out & waddling along the ice. Just in time for feeding... I can watch them all day...
Visit the gift shop then lunch outside ... hope back on the subway.

So far I have only seen pictures of Jean-Talon market, so off to the market we go.. The fruits & veg are so fresh (you can sample them), the display is awesome... Game meat is popular here - Buffalo, wild boar, duck, rabbit, deer...etc. For a snack... freshly made crêpe (of course)
A few blocks from the market is the Italian area known as 'Little Italy'. everyone is watching the world cup soccer - Argentina won, the street becomes packed with fans, cars going on waving flags, honking away...
We stopped by sidewalk cafe to watch the crazy fans go by.... lots of fun...
On the way back to the metro station pass a restaurant with all kinds of fancy cars parked outside... many Ferrari (Italian what else?) It is the nigh before the F1 race, holiday & Saturday, seemed no one stayed home...
