Day 1 - From Vancouver to Frankfurt via Chicago

Left home around 11:00 am to get to the airport. It is amazing how not busy it is to travel later in the day as oppose to early morning flight- Check in, customs, security took only 1/2 hour. One of the advantages about traveling business class (lucky for us we used our Aeroplan points so it is free !) is to be able to stop at the lounge before departure. We stopped at  the food court to get a bit then went to to the Air Canada lounge to relax before our flight. Nice seats by the window while we enjoy complimentary beers and snacks.

Got on board (ahead of the economy class of course LOL) then sit back to enjoy the first of many flights of our trip of a life time. We even get lunch (salmon salad) and of course complimentary cocktails. No sooner after lunch the airplane hit turbulence. Pretty bad and lasted for a while. It was not the worst I ever had - try landing in Hong Kong in a thunderstorm with lightening over water.  Many people freaked out. We heard one of the crews hurted her neck and the other flight attendant paged for a doctor/medical personnel on board.

Landed in Chicago earlier then expected - due to the strong wind that gave us the turbulence we got faster speed. We stopped at the Red Carpet Lounge for a rest - more complimentary drinks and snacks... I am liking this already.

Got on board Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt at 10:00 pm. The business class section was hugh! With fully recline seats, your own Video on Demand movies, TV shows and games, we are in for the long trip across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.

No sooner after take off, we got 3 course meal with starter, dinner of pot roast followed by  coffee & desert. Of course cocktails, wine and liquor to go with each course.

Tried to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspiana after diner, made it half way and can't keep my eyes open... it has been a along day... Push all kinds of buttons on the remote control to flatten the seat to catch some zzzzzzz.
Not sure how long I was out but woke up because it was very warm on the plane and needed water. Decided to sit up and watch the rest of the movie then as I started to watch the next one Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the light came on, guess it's already breakfast time. I was expecting longer flight. Breakfast is served with cheese, cold cuts fruits and bread. Then it is time to pack up and ready for Frankfurt...
