Tried to catch up on my travel log- sorry falling behind a bit. After about 2 hours of sitting in front of the computer, it felt like I was back at work, so I stopped really fast.
Around the corner from the hostel is the main bus station, you can also get ferry's from here as well. I wanted to head towards ponsenby, so I headed for the bus stop I thought I needed and asked the bus driver, but he said no wrong one you need the second one down on the left, so off I headed again. I was sitting at the stop when a bus drew up and opened the door, it was the same driver again, he had pulled over to tell me that it was the next stop down that I need and that the bus I wanted was on its way. I thanked him and run down the road. It seems that everyone here is very proud to do their jobs and try to give the best service possible. I have yet to met any New Zealander who hasn't been extremely helpful and kind
I didn't make it to my destination because on the way there I saw a really nice place and I got off, I have no idea what the place was called, but I had a nice lunch in a little café and just relaxed. Got the bus back to Queens Street and did a bit of window shopping and found some material it patch my jeans up with as I have a whole in them. Headed back to base, I had just sat down to repair my jeans when Scott came in and asked if I would be willing to go down to the bar for a meeting with the hostel staff to give them fed back on the facilities, Mo had just come back from one of the islands, so the three of us headed downstairs. Base Hostels offer a travel service and they are trying to start a new promotion which sounds really good, all they really wanted us for was to bounce the idea off of us to see if we liked it. There's free stuff involved so yep it's a good idea. They also fed and water us so that saved buying dinner.
Scott, Mo and I were going to head for the comedy club tonight but the meeting ran over and Jackie (she from the BP's board) came to the bar tonight to met use all and she had made a special journey as she was going away tomorrow. So we all stayed. Jackie such a lively funny genuine lady. She is a true kiwi, but has traveled herself, when she was younger. So she is full of really good information and tips.
Again another late night but well worth it had a really good time.
