You may recall me mentioning that the entire reason for our annual LA Adventure as we call it is to attend and exhibit at the Los Angeles Pen Show!   I didn't want anyone reading to forget about the pen show being held this weekend, February 13-15 at the Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel.  This is one of the largest pen shows in the world and people come from all corners of the world.   We hope we'll see you there, too!    If you need details on the pen show, visit their website:

When we're on the road, we always try to sample the local restaurants, especially the locally owned ones.  We try cafes and diners that have full parking lots and sometimes just look interesting, and amazingly enough, it's rare that we dine in a dud!    Yes, I know the chains and familiar names have a high comfort level, but we hope you'll remember to support small businesses not only when you're on the road, but at home, too.

Last night we stayed in Grants NM, Grants isn't very big and there weren't a whole lot of places to eat open other than fast food chains, but after driving the strip, we decided to go to El Cafecito.  It was the right choice and we knew it the minute we walked in the door.  Great service, great food and just a nice small town atmosphere that even out of towners like ourselves didn't feel out of place in.  If you're ever in Grants, check it out!

Tonight we are in Kingman AZ.  Even though we visit different places along Route 66 and do some rather oddball roadie things at times, when we get to Kingman, we always stay at the same hotel, after 8 years we know there is never an unwanted surprise here, I make reservations as soon as I know the LA Pen Show dates.   Our favorite Kingman laundry lady at the Fluff and Fold took care of the laundry as usual.  We've eaten at most of the restaurants in town and several times we'd passed the Silver Spoon and it was never open for dinner, but lo and behold tonight, the lights were on!   It's an old restaurant, no fancy decor here, but friendly service and surprise - Greek food in addition to American fare..    They have just started staying open for the dinner crowd, we're glad.

All the photos above tell a little story, so be sure to click and see where we've been today!

We'll see ya'll at the LA Pen Show this weekend!
