After a bad nights sleep by the time I had to get up I was in a deep sleep when the alarm went off!
Shower, coffee and the first live load up of the bike, as with the practice load it is a bit soggy at the back end, but DRZ400's are reknowned for a soft suspension.
Another overcast morning in LA, what happened to the Calafornia sunshine? Set off about 8:30 to head up the the coast to Santa Monica to get the beach shot at the start of the ride. No SUN!

The Interstate I-10 was nearby heading all the way to Tucson. It was at least 60 miles before I cleared LA and all the suburbs. The I-10 gently winds its way out of LA with no sharp curves or over steep climbs, even as it crosses or rather meanders through the vallies of the mountains eventually ending up in the desert (not sure which one).
In one particular valley there was a windfarm that must have had at least 1000 wind generators of all sizes.

After about 250 miles sweating and sat on a knife edge seat (yes it is abit narrow Mrduke) I stopped at a place called Blythejust short of the Arizona border at another Super 8 Motel. I didn't really know where the next possible stop was and it is one big desert and a bit warm to boot!

Two other bikers from Texas turned up one on a Yamaha FJR and the other on a Rotax Spyder 3 wheeler. They were heading to Spyder rally near LA. The Spyder is a bit of an excentrics bike and the frightening thing was the rider was the twin of Mrduke, I'll say no more! Though it was a bit worrying when the FJR was put in a bag and Mrduke's twin went out and washed down the Spyder.

I am having trouble finding somewhere I can download photos but will as soon as possible.
