I had heard of a photo exhibition by Yann Arthus Bertrand, Earth from Above, but of course with an emphasis on Uruguay. It was on one of the Ramblas.
With Piedad we struggled to get there, taking two buses and walking a fair bit, only to find that the exhibition was not there anymore, certainly removed during the weekend (it had already overstayed its planned duration by over a week).
I was a little dissapointed by the Ramblas too, although the beaches certainly are beautiful (for city beaches). Maybe I should have seen all that on a sunny day!
We walked through a big market, selling fruits and vegetables and clothes and artesanias, called Feria Biarritz. It as also a festival of old, and I mean old, cars and trucks that belonged to the merchants.
Piedad was leaving to northern Argentina in the evening, to meet up with her boyfriend, and the poor weather helping I decided I should go back to BsAs... but not before having lunch a last time at the Mercado del Puerto. Piedad had to go back there anyway, as she had not eaten anything on the previous visit.
I had another huge piece of beef (just can't help it), and Piedad took the pork, which was delicious (Sweet, the girls who can't finish their plate and end up giving it to me, hehehe).
We kissed goodbye and I took the afternoon buquebus: a bus to Colonia followed by the boat to Buenos Aires. I bought more chocolates for Guada at the duty-free, she is going to kill me, hahaha!
I also realized I had forgotten my postcards at the Mercado. They were ready to be sent, so instead of returning I decided that someone would be good enough to put them in a mailbox.
Some Uruguayans seemed doubtful about this, so I sent another postcard for the grandparents, as I have to be sure they receive a postcard from each country.
