In Pucon it turned out that the sunday was a good day to climb the volcano... but nobody knew in advance, and I did not want to risk to pay for a guided hike and not get to the top. I am just trying not to be too gutted...
In any case that reinforced my will to go up and look in that crater.
In the evening, the weather was still clear, and a red glow could be observed in the sky: the rising smoke illuminated by the lava in the crater...
In the morning the rain and wind and cold was back. My guests Eric and Eli, as well as Jessica, had been making fun of me saying that I was carrying a black cloud above my head. Grrrr....
I took the bus in the morning to Argentina. It was the 7th time I crossed the border between these two countries. Each time I get a stamp from both. So that is 14 stamps of Argentina and Chile in my passport. I expect to get more, depending on what I will do. At least they don't stamp in the middle of a new page each time, but they are filling up my passport!
After crossing the Andes under the rain, the bus stopped in San Junin. To the east I could see the good weather. I stayed in to get further south, to San Martin. I had decided I would go there and see how the weather was, although the forecast was terrible.
The weather is terrible here, it is pouring. Can't do anything. So I'll move on and hopefully come back in the lake district in a week. Better do a couple of nights in a bus than spend another 4 days doing nothing because of the rain.
So tonight I'm off to Neuquen on a comfortable cama night bus. There the weather is meant to be good, and I expect to engage in a few interesting activities... wait and see!
