Yesterday was Friday 13th.... no volcanic eruption, but a serious storm.
These last days my occupations have been very simple: internet maaaaany hours a day. Cooking / eating / chatting / hanging out with the people I stay with: Eric and Elie who run the house, their kid Helmut, and spanish Jessica. So I have to speak and understand spanish all the time, it is tiring, but productive.
In addition to the volcano, there is a beach along the lake here, no use under the rain. Whn I am tired of speaking spanish or being on a computer, I can watch the bus station from the balcony.
Today with Jessica we took a bus to Curarrehue, to see a small Mapuche museum. It was mainly a collection of texts, traditional stories that have been translated, Very small but interesting, although I got tired of reading in Spanish.
There was a little bit of sun, lots of clouds. The town was small, and very very calm. After the picinic we were tired (!!!), and we headed back to Pucon.
I took a few very random pictures too.
What else...
There are hot springs and thermal centers too, scatered in the countryside. I could go, as the rain does not matter much... but I don't like just doing nothing, so up to now I have been working on my emails and writing late entries for the 3-day trek in Los Glaciares, the trek in Torres del Paine, the Navimag ferry trip, and camping in Chiloe, as well as a few older ones that I completed quickly.
The weather might be good tomorow (sunday), and then ugly for a few more days, so I will move on soon.
Another thing: there is a paleontological search field near Neuquen, in Argentina... that is open to the public, and apparently it is possible to stay and work there a little bit. Sounds good!
