A beautiful day...

Puerto Natales is the gateway town to Torres del Paine National Park, probably one of the most famous in Patagonia. My plan was to go first to El Calafate and El Chalten, in the north, and then to come back to Puerto Natales and visit Torres del Paine, before taking the ferry from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt, on the Canales route, used before the opening of the canal of Panama.

In Puerto Natales there are shops, hostels, and restaurants, and then more hotels, and more restaurants... and in between each an internet cafe or a travel agent. The nearby Torres del Paine is visited by over 200.000 tourists each year, and most of them go through the town. But it is still a nice place, as is often the case in what I have seen of Chile so far.

After walking around town in the morning, I settled down in an internet cafe to try catch up a bit.

Along the shore, there were lots of birds: cormorans, ducks, gulls, and swans with black collar and black head while the rest of the body was white. I did not know of that specie before.
And there were dogs everywhere. The dogs in Patagonia are really cool and friendly.

I tried to sell my australian sleeping bag, with no success, but that got me into several small shops out of the main drags, owned by seemingly humble people, very nice and welcoming.

I also changed the dates of my plane tickets, as I was spending much more time than expected inPatagonia... and once I had bougt the hiking equipment, I had to stay even more to use it!
