First day in Ushuaia.... itīs bloody cold
We walked around town, checked out the tourist information, visited the shops for warmer clothes and hiking shoes, went to travel agencies to look what was on offer. That took us most of the day in fact.
The weather was... chaotic: beautiful sun, revealing the breathtaking views: the sea and the mountains all around. And also all of a sudden clouds and snow, serious snow. Snow and Sun, and then snow again, before the sun.... five times in the same day!
We also went to museums, showing the history of the Tiera del Fuego, of its inhabitants, and of its explorers, in a very objective, but local way. It was small, but I liked it very much.
The results from the tour operators were not good: everything is expensive here, so it just confirmed that our plans were good: do some hiking and camping in the National Park and around Ushuaia.
The excursions to see pinguins and lobos... well we already had plenty of that, maybe we don't want to take another excursion...
Finally, I looked at the cruises to antarctica, there are three boats left for the season, and I booked that one: www.antarctic.cl
