Sunday morning. After leaving the party and fooling around in some playground, we came across a bus, and jumped in. We got into town, well decided to find an english breakfast. I wanted to go to Retiro, near the bus and train stations, as I figured out that was the best place to find 24h places. But we ended up getting off the bus in the city center, which was completely dead. It was a great morning though, we welcomed the warm sun after that freezing night, and we had the city center all for ourselves. I love strolling in the city in the morning.
We did a bit too much of that though, as we were still looking for breakfast. We found a place, had a toasted sandwich that was good, and a great coffee. Being in a country that serves good coffee everywhere is invaluable.
Eventually made it to my bed at 10.30, it was great to lay down, my legs were completely sore. Some people were already up, I was the last to bed, and stayed there until 3 in the afternoon. Not a lot of sleep, but I did not want to waste my last days in BsAs either.
Swiss Raphaela, who I had been with at the hostel for a week, wanted an ice-cream. I decided I wanted to go to Belgrano, a part of town even farther from the center than Palermo. Finding an ice cream is no issue, there are icecream bars every 2 blocks, they are completely mental with icecream.
When we arrived in Belgrano, we went completely the wrong way, but it was nice to visit, and we found an icecream bar. I don't like ice cream (because it's too cold, haha), but I had to try at least once. They fill up the cone and then put more until the ice is three time as high as the cone. I took a picture after eating some of the icecream, next time I will have to take one of a full sized brand new ice cream.
And you can choose all the flavour you want. I had a mix of white chocolate and bitter chocolate, and dulce de leche with almonds dipped in chocolate. Ho!ho!ho!
We finally made it to the feria de Belgrano, a market much like the others in Mataderos, SanTelmo, or Palermo: handicrafts, bags, clothes, etc... The plaza was very nice, under the shade of big trees, and with a circular church on one side.
The Belgrano area was not anything pretty like Palermo or Recoletta, as it is made of much more recent buildings, and the result cannot be called beautiful. But the streets were bustling with people going around, all sorts of shops, less restaurants and cafes: much more like normal life, a bit afar from the showoff of the capital and its trendy and small places.
After that excursion, we were completely exhausted, mainly due to the lack of sleep. We still went to visit Eva and Jimena, to see their apartment in the day light, and to ask them if we could leave some stuff while we were away, Rafaela in Uruguay and me in Patagonia. The girls had just woken up and were cooking, we stayed for a while before heading back to the hostel.
There I did not have much of a rest, as I had to go and meet Sam and Tomo. Rafaela let me down and I took the metro to San Telmo.
We had a last pizza together, and off they went to the terminal de omnibus, to catch their bus to Cordoba, in the north, on their way to Bolivia.
Back to the hostel there were newcomers, among which mexican musicians, so it took a while to go to bed, where I landed at around midnight: incredibly early!
