After a few days on Moorea, I came back a day before my flight to Tahiti to try and explore the island. Directly after the boat, I boarded a truck going along the west and south coast of Tahiti. I had decided to stop once I found a place that looked nice enough, meaning anything between being completely lost and having a good looking beach.
I arrived to the end of the "line" without having decided where to spend the night... The bus driver was going back, he took me along a part a of the way, then I hitched to Paia, one of the towns on the coast. I found there a good pension, met a number of nice people, from Swiss and Brit roundtheworlders to Aussie students to a French couple trying to adopt a Polynesian kid.
The next day I hitched back to Papeete under the rain, I was soaked but over all these rides I learnt a lot, bit by bit, about polynesian culture and customs.
I went back to Chez Fifi, in front of the airport, to wait for my night flight to Easter Island, gateway to South America.
